Purpose
The purpose of this update course is to provide a clear and focused overview of the most important changes and improvements in ITIL® Foundation (Version 5) compared to ITIL® 4 Foundation.
Course content
ITIL® (Version 5) builds on the existing ITIL foundation and introduces several improvements and clarifications that reflect how modern organizations work with products and services today.
The course provides a concise introduction to the key updates in ITIL® Foundation (Version 5), with a specific focus on the elements that differ from ITIL® 4, including changes to terminology, models, and the overall approach to product and service management.

The programme is under development, but is expected to include, among other topics:
Key ITIL® terms and definitions, including:
- Digital product and service management
- Service interactions and customer/user journeys
- Change, transformation, and BAU (business as usual)
- Digital experience, user experience (UX), and customer experience (CX)
- Experience Level Agreement (XLA)
ITIL® principles and models, including:
- The three types of service relationships
- SLAs in relation to the three types of service relationships
- ITIL and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- ITIL and governance
- The ITIL AI Capability Model
- The ITIL Product and Service Lifecycle
- The eight lifecycle activities all service providers should master
- The ITIL Value System
Target audience and prerequisites
The course is aimed at participants who want a fast and efficient update without having to complete a full Foundation course again. At the same time, the course enables you to upgrade your existing ITIL® 4 certification to ITIL® Foundation (Version 5) via a dedicated bridge examination, which focuses exclusively on the differences between ITIL®4 Foundation and ITIL® Foundation (Version 5).
An existing ITIL® 4 certificate is required. You may participate even if your ITIL® 4 certificate has expired.
Practical information
Language
The course is delivered in Danish with English course materials. The exam is in English. On-premises courses are offered in Danish or English.
Course material
You will receive digital materials, designed specifically for understanding ITIL®, meeting the syllabus requirements and preparing for the exam. The material is available on multiple digital platforms – also offline – and no printing is required.
Please bring your laptop for both the course and the exam.
In addition, you will receive access to an online version of the official ITIL® Foundation manual. Access details are provided in the welcome email.
Exam
If you attend an open course, you will receive a voucher for your exam. The exam is scheduled and taken after the course, giving you sufficient time to prepare. For in-house courses, the exam is held as agreed.
The exam is in English and lasts 37 minutes (30 minutes if English is your native language).
