What about ITIL® 4 Foundation – is it still available?
ITIL® 4 is still available and is expected to be supported throughout 2026. However, we recommend ITIL® Foundation (Version 5), as it is based on the latest experience with ITIL® and represents an evolution in product and service management.
In addition, ITIL® (Version 5) is AI-native by design and provides a more practical and contemporary foundation for an organization’s digital transformation.
The popular ITIL® 4 practices remain in place and have proven their value since their release. They are therefore expected to receive smaller updates aligned with ITIL® (Version 5).
